GigKiln is a free, independent guidance site for UK gig workers, published by Kiln Guides Ltd. We cover private hire drivers, couriers, riders, Amazon Flex drivers and platform workers across the UK on tax, rights, safety, deactivation, health and benefits. We take no money from any gig platform. We publish guidance, tools and templates, and we are held to the Kiln network's Reader Charter.
Our editor is Scott Jones, founder of Kiln Guides Ltd. For press enquiries, use the contact details below.

What we can do for you.
- Provide direct quotes from a named editor.
- Provide primary-source research on any published page of this site, with links.
- Provide anonymised, aggregated statistics from our published tools and research once they have been live long enough to have stable data.
- Refer you to named union and legal contacts where we have published their material with permission.
Key stats drawn from our research, all primary-source.
- DAC7 platform reporting rules for UK digital platforms took effect from 1 January 2024. Deliveroo's public rider reporting page at riders.deliveroo.co.uk confirms the UK platform reporting obligation is live and operating in the 2026 reporting cycle.
- Uber's rewritten non-London driver terms, in force from January 2026, introduced a service fee ranging from 3 percent to 49 percent per trip. Reported by the App Drivers and Couriers Union on 21 December 2025 and by TaxiPoint on the same date.
- The Addison Lee tribunal compensation ruling of March 2026 affected more than 900 drivers, with total compensation likely to exceed 20 million pounds. Reported by Leigh Day, the solicitors who brought the case.
- Maternity Allowance for self-employed gig workers ranged from 27 pounds to 194.32 pounds per week for the 2025 to 26 tax year, paid for up to 39 weeks subject to Class 2 National Insurance contributions, per gov.uk/maternity-allowance.
All of these stats appear with their primary source link on the relevant guide page. The full research tracker is our public evidence library at /research. If you need anything that does not appear there, ask.
What we will not do.
- Provide unattributed quotes.
- Confirm or deny anonymous worker tip content without the worker's express consent.
- Recommend a commercial product for a press feature.
